About Us
The Worcester Regional Retirement System (formerly The Worcester County Retirement System) is the 7th largest in members, and the largest in number of member units of the 106 contributory retirement systems for public employees in Massachusetts. The Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC) oversees The Worcester Regional Retirement System as well as all Public Retirement systems in the state. Our system has ninety-five member units (95) comprising of forty-nine (49) cities and towns, thirteen (13) School Systems, eight (8) water districts, twenty-four (24) housing authorities and 1 Sewer District operating under Chap 32b and 34b of The Massachusetts General Laws.
It is a defined benefit plan.
Since its inception in 1937, as The Worcester County Retirement System and then on July 1, 1998 it became The Worcester Regional Retirement System our staff has been available for assistance to our members.
We have been providing retirement, disability and survivor benefits to the employees retirees and beneficiaries of all member units. Our staff is available to all members who would like to discuss the various retirement benefits available and receive estimates of their potential retirement allowances.
